Provincial nature reserve
Lake Loppio is undoubtedly one of Trentino's best-known nature reserves, located in the valley that joins the Adige and Garda furrows. Originating from a double barrage (a large landslide obstructed the north-western side, while the Rio Gresta with its materials blocked the opposite side), the lake is now a swamp, as it was drained in the 1950s, with the construction of the tunnel between the Adige River and Lake Garda.
The Reserve is also a Special Area of Conservation and is one of the protected areas that make up the local Monte Baldo Nature Park.
