Autonomy
Trentino's Autonomy is rooted in the traditions of self-government and local rules that were already widespread in the Middle Ages. In this vein, in the present day Autonomy has become a form of government to deal with endemic or contingent problems and to grow the community, in continuous dialogue with South Tyrol, neighbouring regions, Rome and Brussels.
On the strength of centuries-old traditions of common management of resources, Autonomy was claimed by the Trentino people as a form of self-government of a complex and varied territory. It was only in the Republican era, however, that self-government became a reality, becoming part of the Constitution and guaranteeing local communities, not without difficulty, a process of growth and achievement of widespread prosperity. A true political laboratory, Autonomy is a stratification of practices and skills acquired and strengthened over time.
