Description
Site of exceptional importance due to the lacustrine vegetation on the shores of the lake and the extensive marshes developed at the bottom of a valley that flows into the lake itself.
This is a unique environment with plant associations that are becoming increasingly rare due to reclamation in the alluvial areas at the bottom of the valley.
The site is also of great importance for the nesting, stopping and/or wintering of bird species that are protected or in strong decline, and/or have a localised distribution in the Alps.
Habitats of special interest not included in Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC are present: Caricetum elatae and Caricetum gracilis (40%), Phragmition (30%).
