Preschool enrolment for the school year 2026/2027

Provincial and equivalent pre-schools provide pre-school services for children in the 3-6 year age group, for no less than 10 months a year, five days a week and seven hours a day plus optional extended hours. Preschool attendance is optional.

For the 2026/2027 school year, children resident or domiciled in the Province of Trento, born in the period between 1 January 2021 and 31 January 2024, are entitled to enrol in pre-school.
For early entry from January 2027, children resident or domiciled in the Province of Trento, born in the period from 1st February 2024 to 30th April 2024, may enrol in the period from 1st to 8th October 2026.

The application for enrolment is submitted by one of the parents or by the person exercising parental responsibility over the child. The application for registration is shared by both parents: to this end, the parent completing the application declares that he/she has made the choice in compliance with the provisions of articles 316, 337b and 337c of the Civil Code, which require the consent of both parents or those exercising parental responsibility over the child.

In the event of the application being submitted by a guardian/custodian

• in the presence of a legal guardian, appointed by the judge, for the minor (even with provisional appointment), the registration is the responsibility of the legal guardian and the deed of appointment as guardian of the minor must be attached to the application; the application may also be submitted by the foster family provided that the formal authorisation to present issued by the guardian is attached to the application
• in the absence of a legal guardian, appointed by the court, for the minor (even with provisional appointment): the application for registration must be submitted by the foster family, who must attach to the application the statement attesting to foster care issued by the competent Social Service or the order issued by the competent Judicial Authority.

The application must be submitted exclusively ONLINE via SPID, CIE, CNS or CPS.
The service will be active from 8 a.m. on Monday 19 January to 8 p.m. on Monday 02 February 2026.

New enrolments submitted outside the catchment area

They can only be requested by families in which both parents work.
The only reasons that can be given in this case are those relating to

• greater proximity of the school outside the catchment area to the place of work of at least one of the two parents
• family organisation factors linked to the child being cared for by a relative up to the third degree who must be resident in the school's catchment area identified outside the school's catchment area

In these cases, families are informed by the Management Committees that enrolments are accepted with reservations. The reservation is lifted by the Provincial Council with the approval of the annual nursery school programme, having verified the need of the families with respect to the actual need to be able to attend that particular school

Preschool educational paths according to the Montessori methodology

• for re-enrolment in the experimental pathway attended in the school year 2025/2026, starting from this year, parents will submit the RE-ENROLLMENT APPLICATION exclusively ON LINE . By entering the online system, parents will be automatically directed to a re-enrolment application for the experimental "Montessori" pre-school and section they are currently attending.
• For new applications for enrolment in the experimental route, the application must be submitted on paper on the appropriate form

For information on how to fill in applications, if necessary, the reference co-ordination circles for provincial pre-schools and the individual managing bodies for equivalent pre-schools are available to users.
At the peripheral PAT counters, by appointment, it is possible to: activate the CIE or SPID and a workstation is available (by reservation only) for submitting the application online (in total autonomy on the part of the user).

For those who cannot perform the online enrolment independently

It is possible to request free individualised training and to be accompanied by an operator in order to carry out online enrolment independently, by calling the toll-free number 800 22 80 40 (Mon-Fri 8.00-17.00) or by accessing the online booking system at the following link: "Digitale Facile" points

The training will take place at one of the Digitale Facile Points of your choice in the province.
N. B. The operator of the "Punti Digitale Facile" cannot complete the online application, which remains the responsibility of the user.

Vaccination compliance status is a condition for admission to kindergarten attendance.

The pre-enrolment application submitted from 19 January to 2 February 2026 (which allows priority in the allocation of a place from January 2027) must be confirmed by submitting the application from 1 October to 8 October 2026.

The receptivity of the school (maximum number of children/sections) must be made known to the families before enrolment opens. Once enrolment has been collected, the management committee is required to

• in the case of schools with a sufficient number of places to accommodate all enrolments received, compile an alphabetical list of enrolled children
• in the case of schools with fewer places available than the number of enrolments received, compile the graduated list of enrolled children and the ranking list of those on the waiting list. The lists and rankings prepared by the management committees are published on the school notice board by Monday 11 February 2026. In case of exclusion, the committee will inform the family by email.

Ordinary attendance (for 7 hours a day when the school is open) is free of charge. On the other hand, a financial contribution from families is required, calculated according to the ICEF system, for the costs of the school canteen service and the extended daily timetable service.

The rate for the extended hours service is unchanged compared to the 2025/2026 school year. According to the rate system adopted for the 2026/2027 school year (del. no. 1996 of 12/12/2025) the full annual rate is €220 for one hour a day, €440 for two hours a day and €726 for three hours a day. The rate relief is provided on an ICEF basis and the minimum annual rates are: EUR 82.5 for one hour daily, EUR 165 for two hours daily and EUR 275 for three hours daily.

By submitting the application online, it is possible to find out the annual rates for the extended daily timetable and canteen service. For children who re-enrol, the system automatically calculates the subsidised rates on an ICEF (income/wealth 2024) basis using the ICEF "Family" indicator (if submitted to the CAF/PAT information desk) when filling out the application. For new enrollees, the fee calculation is not immediately available, but by accessing the portal again within 24 hours after the application has been submitted, the person in charge can download the canteen fee and/or extended hours certificate.

For the activation of the extended daily timetable service, only applications completed with payment made by Monday 30 March 2026 will be considered useful, according to the following procedures

1) in the case of enrolment in a provincial nursery school, the fee shall be paid according to the instructions given in the "pagoPA" payment notice. Payment of the fee due to the Autonomous Province of Trento is made exclusively through the PagoPA method. The parent responsible for making the payment (the applicant) will receive on his/her email account indicated in the application form, a notice containing all the elements for making the payment (amount, debtor, IUV code). The subscriber of the application

• must pay the notice by going to a physical counter (ticket offices), by accessing PagoPA via mypay https://mypay.provincia.tn.it/pa/home.html using the dedicated Apps (IO, Sisalpay, Satispay, Bancomatpay) or by using an online bank account;
• he/she does not have to send the school/circle proof of payment as there is an automatic acknowledgement via PagoPA. 2) in the case of enrolment at an equivalent kindergarten, the fee is paid according to the instructions provided by the managing body:

• payment to the managing body of the school by bank transfer (indicating in the reason for payment "Extended timetable, school of _______ , no. of hours required___, child's personal data") using the bank account details provided by the managing body for the school of reference
• sending the managing body of the school the receipt certifying the payment

3) in the case of enrolment at the equivalent nursery schools of the Asif G.B. Chimelli di Pergine e Roncogno for the payment of the fee due, payment is made exclusively through the PagoPA method.
