Description
Pupils attending pre-schools and compulsory schools up to and including secondary school can make use of school transport provided by the Autonomous Province of Trento.
School transport is guaranteed by both regular services and special services, depending on the territory concerned.
Special services may be instituted when scheduled urban and extra-urban services are inadequate (i.e. when the distance between the home and the stop exceeds 1,000 metres; the distance between the stop and the school building exceeds 500 metres; the wait exceeds 25 minutes from the start of lessons and 20 minutes from the end of lessons) and according to the following criteria
- the distance from the home to the school building exceeds 500 metres for kindergarten pupils, and 1,000 metres for primary and secondary school pupils; the distance is calculated using the shortest route on foot, along roads open to public transit, using online cadastral data to locate the home and GIS to measure the distance;
- the transport service is provided to a single user school for the purpose of transporting pupils in that specific area.
Applications submitted after 28 February (after the deadline) or applications submitted by the deadline, but which do not meet the distance and/or user requirements, are accepted at a later date in line with the services established.
The school transport card does not have to be requested when children up to the age of 6 use public transport to travel to school accompanied by a paying adult relative (as defined by Provincial Council Resolution no. 2487 of 30 December 2015).
The routes of the school transport services, with relative stops and timetables, grouped by school, can be consulted at the following link: www.trasportoscolastico.tn.it

Authorisation to use the school transport service independently (excluding transport services for pre-schools)
As a result of the application for transport, (both computerised and on paper), authorisation is issued at the same time, for the entire school cycle of the first grade, by the person in charge of the pupil(having carefully assessed the age of the child his or her degree of autonomy and the specific context) to autonomously use the school transport service and the exemption of the Province's Public Transport Sector and the operators of the school transport service from the responsibility connected to the fulfilment of the obligation to supervise the boarding and alighting from the vehicle and the time spent at the stop used, both on the outward and return journey from school activities.
It should be noted that the authorisation is understood to be granted even in the event of any subsequent changes to the route requested. If those responsible for the pupil do not wish to grant this authorisation, or if they wish to revoke it, they must fill in the appropriate "denial of authorisation to use the vehicle independently" form
Restrictions
The fee for the use of the school transport service for pupils is established by resolution of the Provincial Council.
For the school year 2025/2026, the tariff is set at 20.00 euro (Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 941 of 11 June 2021).
The card is valid for the period from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026, with free circulation within the province of Trento, (i.e. home/school route and the possibility of using all scheduled services, urban and extra-urban buses and trains of the Brenner line(with the exception of long-distance trains Intercity, Eurocity, Euronight, Frecce di Trenitalia), the Valsugana line and the Trento-Malè line, including educational outings.
Moreover, the season ticket is free of charge from the 4th child user of transport services from kindergartens to secondary schools and vocational training centres. To obtain the issuance of the fourth pass free of charge, it is necessary to submit the request through the "Stanza del Cittadino" (Citizen's Room) after identification through SPID (Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale - Public Digital Identity System), CIE (Carta d'Identità Elettronica - Electronic Identity Card), CNS (Carta Nazionale dei Servizi - National Services Card) or CPS (Carta Provinciale dei Servizi - Provincial Services Card).
