Enrolment for nursery school for the 2026/2027 academic year

Provincial and equivalent nursery schools provide nursery education for children aged between 3 and 6, for no fewer than 10 months a year, five days a week and seven hours a day, plus optional extended hours. Attendance at nursery school is optional.

For the January 2027 intake, children who are resident or domiciled in the province of Trento and were born between 1 February and 31 March 2024 are eligible to enrol in nursery school. Parents of children born in April 2024 may also submit an application for enrolment.
Applications may be submitted as:

• confirmation of a pre-enrolment already completed by families by 2 February 2026 (in which case the family is given priority over other applications)
• a new application

The enrolment application must be submitted by one of the parents or by the person exercising parental responsibility for the child. Both parents must agree to the enrolment application: to this end, the parent completing the application declares that the choice has been made in accordance with the provisions of Articles 316, 337-ter and 337-quater of the Civil Code, which require the consent of both parents or those exercising parental responsibility for the child.

Where the application is submitted by a guardian or foster carer: 

• where there is a legal guardian, appointed by the court, for the child (including a provisional appointment), the legal guardian is responsible for the registration and the document appointing them as the child’s guardian must be attached to the application; the application may also be submitted by the foster family provided that a formal authorisation to submit the application, issued by the guardian, is attached to the application;
• in the absence of a legal guardian, appointed by a court, for the child (including a provisional appointment): the application for registration must be submitted by the foster family, which must attach to the application either the declaration certifying the foster care arrangement issued by the relevant social services department or the order issued by the competent judicial authority.

Applications must be submitted exclusively ONLINE using SPID, CIE, CNS or CPS.
The service will be available from 8.00 am on Thursday 1 October until 8.00 pm on Thursday 8 October 2026.

New enrolment applications submitted outside the catchment area

Applications for enrolment at a nursery school outside the catchment area may be submitted by families where:

• the child for whom the application is being made outside the catchment area has a brother or sister already attending the specified nursery school outside the catchment area (not a crèche, not a primary school)
• the choice of a school outside the catchment area is due to its proximity to the workplace of at least one of the parents (both of whom are in employment), compared with the school within the catchment area
• the choice of a school outside the catchment area is due to family organisational factors and is linked to the childcare provided by a relative up to the third degree of kinship residing within the catchment area of the school outside the catchment area, in cases where both parents are in employment

In such cases, families are informed by the Management Committees that acceptance of the enrolment is subject to verification of the requirements for enrolment outside the catchment area.  

Early years education programmes based on the Montessori method

Applications for enrolment on the experimental Montessori programme must be submitted in paper form by downloading and completingthe appropriateform.

The completed paper application form must not be handed in in person, but must be submitted in one of the following ways:

• by email: for provincial schools to servizio.infanzia@pec.provincia.tn.it; for equivalent nursery schools to the certified email (PEC) address of the individual school
• by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt, enclosing a copy of a valid identity document belonging to the parent making the application; in this case, the date of the postmark from the accepting post office shall be taken as proof
• by fax, with a copy of a valid identity document belonging to the parent making the application attached

For those unable to complete the online enrolment independently

Proof of vaccination is a prerequisite for admission to nursery school.

The pre-enrolment application submitted between 19 January and 2 February 2026 (which entitles applicants to priority in the allocation of a place from January 2027) must be confirmed by submitting the enrolment application between 1 October and 8 October 2026.

The school’s capacity (maximum number of children per class) must be made known to families before enrolment opens. Once enrolment has closed, the management committee is required to: 

• in the case of schools with sufficient places to accommodate all enrolments received, compile an alphabetical list of enrolled children
• in the case of schools with fewer places available than the number of enrolment applications received, draw up a ranked list of enrolled children and a ranking list of those on the waiting list. The lists and rankings drawn up by the management committees must be published on the school noticeboard by Monday 11 February 2026. In the event of exclusion, the committee shall inform the family by email.

Standard attendance (for 7 hours’ daily school opening hours) is free of charge. However, families are required to make a financial contribution, calculated according to the ICEF system, towards the costs of the school meals service and the extended day service.

Under the fee structure adopted for the 2026/2027 academic year (Resolution No. 1996 of 12 December 2025), the full annual fee is 220 euros for one hour per day, 440 euros for two hours per day and 726 euros for three hours per day. Fee concessions are granted on the basis of ICEF, and the minimum annual fees are as follows: 82.5 euros for one hour per day, 165 euros for two hours per day and 275 euros for three hours per day. 

By submitting an online application, you can find out the annual fees for the extended day care service and the school meals service. For children re-enrolling, the system automatically calculates the reduced rates based on the ICEF (income/assets 2024) using the ICEF ‘Family’ indicator (provided the application has been submitted to the CAF or the PAT Information Desk) whilst completing the application. For new enrolments, the fee calculation is not immediately available; however, by logging back into the portal within 24 hours of submitting the application, the parent or guardian can download the certificate confirming the canteen fee and/or extended hours fee.

For the activation of the extended daily hours service, only applications finalised with payment made by Monday 30 March 2026 in accordance with the following procedures will be considered valid:

1) in the case of enrolment at a provincial nursery school, payment of the fee must be made in accordance with the instructions set out in the ‘pagoPA’ payment notice. Payment of the fee due to the Autonomous Province of Trento must be made exclusively via the PagoPA method. The parent responsible for payment (the applicant) will receive, at the email address provided in the enrolment application, a payment notice containing all the details required to make the payment (amount, payee, IUV code). The applicant:

• must pay the notice by visiting a physical payment point (collection offices), accessing PagoPA via mypayhttps://mypay.provincia.tn.it/pa/home.html,using the dedicated apps (IO, Sisalpay, Satispay, Bancomatpay) or via an online bank account;

2) In the case of enrolment at an equivalent nursery school, payment of the fee must be made in accordance with the instructions provided by the managing body:

• payment to the school’s managing body by bank transfer (stating in the reference field “Extended hours, school of _______, no. of hours requested ___, child’s personal details”) using the bank account details provided by the managing body for the relevant school
• send the receipt confirming payment to the school’s governing body

3) In the case of enrolment at the equivalent nursery schools of Asif G.B. Chimelli in Pergine and Roncogno, payment of the fee is to be made exclusively via the PagoPA system.
