    Above the pastures of Malga Alpo rises the isolated Rocca dell'Alpo (or Cima Spessa), on the flanks of which it is possible to observe the transition from mugo to beech forest.

    It includes the Adamello-Presanella granite massif, located in the western sector of the Adamello-Brenta Park.
    The deep glacially modelled valley furrow traversed by the Sarca di Genova, defines and separates the two crystalline subgroups of Presanella to the north and Adamello to the south, moving westwards between narrow walls and steep slopes covered by thick deciduous and coniferous woods.
    A prominent feature in the landscape of the Val Genova, one of the most typical and famous Alpine valleys of glacial origin, is the abundance of water and the high degree of environmental naturalness. There are numerous side valleys, all suspended with respect to the main one, and their watercourses give rise to waterfalls rich in water and of exceptional beauty.

    The nature reserve is a complex of four separate small natural areas located along the Adige River between the municipalities of Isera, Ala and Avio, up to the Veneto Region border.
    These are the last remaining semi-natural areas along the Adige River, which preserve wetland habitats suitable for migratory bird life.

    The Reserve is also a Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area.

Annex 2 invertebrate species linked to forests in good natural condition are present.
