The snow conditions at high altitudes, characterised by unstable wind accumulations and a snowpack with layers of fresh snow poorly bonded to the underlying layers, continue to pose a high risk of detachment locally, even with light overloads. Meteotrentino points this out. In recent days, Trentino has been the scene of some serious avalanche accidents involving hikers and ski mountaineers in Pampeago, on Mount Fravort and on the Presena glacier. These episodes demonstrate the importance of adopting responsible behaviour. The Department of Civil Protection, Forestry and Fauna, the Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service and the Sat (Trento Mountaineering Society) invite all hikers and mountain enthusiasts to carefully consult the Euregio Avalanche Bulletin before each outing. It is essential to plan the hike correctly, to take all precautionary measures and to always consider the condition of the snowpack.
