Description
The biotope represents a particularly interesting environment from a vegetation point of view, due to the presence of rare botanical associations of wet meadows and peat bogs typical of acid substrates and riparian hygrophilous woodland.
There are also some very rare species such as Trichophorum alpinum, Eriophorum vaginatum, Eriophorum angustifolium, Drosera rotundifolia, Carex limosa and Pedicularis palustris.
As far as fauna is concerned, this environment is particularly important as a habitat for numerous Invertebrate species and as a breeding and feeding ground for Birds and Mammals.
The fox (Vulpes vulpes), badger (Meles meles) and roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) are the main representatives of the latter group of vertebrates.
The sparrow hawk (Accipiter nisus), the black grouse (Bonasa bonasia), the black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) and the great spotted woodpecker (Picoides major), on the other hand, stand out among the birds.
Not to be forgotten are Reptiles, including orbettino (Anguis fragilis), viviparous lizard (Lacerta vivipara) and marasso (Vipera berus) and Amphibians, with spotted salamander (Salamandra salamandra), alpine newt (Triturus alpestris), common toad (Bufo bufo) and mountain frog (Rana temporaria).
