"The completion of the first tunnel and the arrival at the Brenner Pass of the Tbm 'Virginia' represents an important moment for Trentino, for Trentino Alto Adige, for the Title and for the whole of Europe". This was the comment made by the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, today in Mules in South Tyrol, where he followed the final stages of the mechanical tunnel boring machine 'Virginia', which arrived at the Brenner Pass after excavating 14 km in the line tunnel of the Base Tunnel construction site.
"The new tunnel will be a flywheel for our economy, for the development of the territory and our companies. Moreover, in the next few weeks Trentino will be able to say that it is really joining the Brenner corridor project,' continued the governor. 'In fact, work on the Trento bypass will start shortly. This will become a fundamental work to give continuity to the new Brenner tunnel. A work that has been awaited for many years and will soon become a reality. We are also moving forward with the planning of the Rovereto bypass,' Fugatti concluded, 'and in the coming months we will evaluate which project will be the best for our territory.
