Until 10 p.m., every day, the Large Carnivores monitoring teams of the Autonomous Province of Trento are in action to guard the areas where the bear sightings have been most numerous and striking, starting with the one in Malé, which is causing a great deal of uproar.
It is the Province's Fauna Service that confirms this, pointing out that control is always carried out promptly on individual reports, through the activation of the personnel closest to the area where the event is detected.
As far as the Malé episode is concerned, as anticipated, investigations are continuing in search of traces useful for tracing the identity of the animal, with the aim of implementing the capture procedure in order to apply the radio collar. The speed with which the episode occurred did not allow deterrent actions to be taken, which the foresters are ready to implement in the hypothesis - which is not so easy - that the animal will be spotted again.
The province's experts also point out that it is essential for the municipalities to continue with the replacement of waste bins, thus making those for wet waste inaccessible.
In any case, the Pacobace protocol, which provides for a series of actions, including the removal of the animal deemed dangerous, remains the point of reference for every activity.
In the meantime, the Department of Forestry and Large Carnivores has once again sent a request to the state bodies to be able to make the bear spray available, first and foremost for the benefit of those who work professionally in the forests and mountains, with the aim of ensuring the safety of citizens and guests as a priority.
