From 2020 to date, the provincial administration has received 61 administrative appeals on bear management, for a total of about 140 rulings by the Trga and the Council of State. In addition to these, there are 3 criminal proceedings brought against the president, Maurizio Fugatti (2 archived and 1 on which the public prosecutor's office has made a request for archiving). "These are the proceedings formalised by the judicial authorities, but there could be others. In the light of the sentences pronounced by the Trga and the Council of State in recent weeks, it seemed right to give an account, because we will talk about them again anyway. We are not intimidated and it will certainly not be such a large number of appeals that will stop our efforts to safeguard people's safety. In the coming weeks, the hibernation period will end and, should cases of confidant and dangerous bears emerge again this year, we will intervene according to the provisions of our law," were the words of the president, flanked by the province's director general Raffaele de Col and the director general of the Attorney General's Office Evelina Stefani. "There are no schools or manuals on how to behave in extraordinary situations like this, which require very delicate management and great responsibility on the part of our administrative machine," Fugatti added. To date, there are no problematic animals in Trentino, but a few carefully 'watched out' specimens.
