Description
The state of conservation of the environment is excellent at high altitudes, with the exception of some areas of recent urbanisation. The site is of significant national and/or provincial interest due to the presence and reproduction of endangered animal species, important glacial relicts, exclusive and/or typical of the Alps and due to the presence of karstic caves, extensive wooded slopes and water bodies of obvious importance. Presence of Annex II invertebrate species, including prioiritarian species, indicating mature broadleaf forests in good natural condition and watercourses of high biological quality.
Priority habitat 6210 (wonderful orchid blooms) present in the most marginal and thermophilic areas with 0.1% cover.
Habitats of special interest not included in Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC are present, in particular Adenostylo glabrae - Abietetum and Cardamino pentaphyllo - Abietetum.
Val di Tovel with the included area of the malga Flavona is particularly valuable for its naturalness aspects.
