Description
Through this Notice, the Autonomous Province of Trento aims to facilitate the implementation of investment projects aimed at developing new enabling research infrastructure for clinical and/or translational research within the province. This initiative is in line with the objectives of the Autonomous Province of Trento’s ERDF Programme (PR) 2021–2027, adopted pursuant to Provincial Law No. 2 of 16 February 2015 ‘Provincial activities within the European Union, interregional relations and territorial cooperation’ and the related Implementing Regulation, in compliance with the relevant European, national and provincial legislation.
Eligible initiatives
This Call for Proposals provides funding for research infrastructure in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 2.1.1 of Commission Communication C(2022) 7388 final ‘Framework for State aid for research, development and innovation’ and, specifically:
- for the purposes of complying with the provisions of the Communication, projects submitted by research organisations or other public bodies carrying out research activities within the province will be eligible for funding, provided that any economic activity of the research organisation or research infrastructure (in the case of other public bodies) utilises exactly the same factors of production (such as materials, equipment, labour and fixed capital) as the non-economic activities, and the capacity allocated each year to such economic activities does not exceed 20 per cent of the relevant total annual capacity of the entity (research organisation or research infrastructure);
- if the research organisation or research infrastructure carries out both economic and non-economic activities, it must be ensured that the funding, costs and revenue for each type of activity are accounted for separately, including in the annual financial statements, on the basis of accounting principles applied consistently and objectively justifiable.
The projects submitted must relate to the development of research infrastructure (implementation of the infrastructure with the equipment necessary for its intended purposes).
Support will be provided for projects falling within the Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Autonomous Province of Trento (approved by Provincial Council Resolution No. 2297 of 23 December 2021) S3 ‘Health, nutrition and lifestyles’ and consistent with the technological trajectories ‘Prevention & wellbeing: advanced diagnostics and lifestyles’ and/or ‘Personalised medicine’.
Budget and funding percentage
The total cost of the project submitted under this Call for Proposals must not be less than €1 million.
The funds available for the financing of projects under this Call amount to €6.6 million.
These funds are reserved for projects relating to the priority area of the Province’s 2021–2027 Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) – ‘Health, nutrition and lifestyles’ – and are intended exclusively for the development of infrastructure linked to the following technological trajectories: i) Personalised medicine; ii) Prevention & wellbeing: advanced diagnostics andlifestyles.
The Provincial Administration may, subject to the availability of financial resources, allocate further funds to finance this Call for Proposals.
The funding referred to in this Call for Proposals covers 100 per cent of eligible costs.
