How to obtain your SPID digital identity

Description

SPID - Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale (Public Digital Identity System) - is the solution promoted by the government to access the online services of the entire Italian public administration with a single digital identity, usable from computers, tablets and smartphones.

Each service requires access with a certain level of security. Make sure you choose a provider that guarantees the level of security you need (level 1, level 2 or level 3).

Restrictions

The use of SPID is free, but you can activate it by choosing between free and paid modes.

Who it's for

SPID can be activated by citizens over 18 years of age in possession of a valid Italian ID card and a health card or tax code card.

What to do

To activate your SPID, you must choose a digital identity manager from among the managers enabled by AgID, Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale, and register on their site.

Registration consists of three steps

  1. enter your personal data
  2. create your SPID credentials;
  3. log in by choosing from the methods offered by the operator.

In Trentino, thanks to an agreement signed with the identity manager 'Lepida', you can also request your SPID digital identity at provincial counters with the support of operators.

If you choose Lepida as your Digital Identity Manager, you will have to

  • pre-register on the dedicated website, uploading a copy of your valid identity document and your health card and keeping a mobile phone and access to your email inbox for pre-registration confirmation;
  • carry out recognition by requesting an appointment at one of the counters enabled for recognition in person (de visu) or by choosing one of the other methods offered by the operator Lepida;

Once the recognition procedure has been completed, your Digital Identity will be active.

Special cases

As the legal head of a company (company) or a delegate, you can apply for and use your personal digital identity (SPID Citizen) to access services dedicated to the company.

What you need

Documents to be submitted

To obtain SPID you need:

  • a valid Italian identification document (identity card, passport, driving licence);
  • your health card or tax code card (or their respective certificates of attribution);
  • your e-mail;
  • a mobile phone for personal use.
