Digital transformation affects the entire public administration and plays a strategic role in simplifying relations with citizens and businesses and, more generally, in the growth of the community and the economy. By strengthening digital infrastructure, developing state-of-the-art websites and online services, and utilising interoperable data platforms, the public administration makes its information resources available to users, alongside innovative, simple and accessible digital services designed to meet the needs of the target audience, with the aim of reducing waiting times, costs and red tape.

The strategy of the Autonomous Province of Trento, as set out in the document‘Towards the Trentino Digital District 2026 – Digital and Simplification Agenda of the Autonomous Province of Trento 2022–2024’, comes at a particularly significant juncture, given, on the one hand, the challenges posed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which allocates over 27 per cent of total resources to the digital transition for the period 2021–2026, and, on the other hand, the guidelines arising from the new 2021–2027 European programming cycle; it is consistent with the European strategy set out in the Digital Compass for Europe and with the digital transformation objectives outlined in the national ‘Italia Digitale 2026’ strategy .
