Description
The environmental dimension is playing an increasingly significant role in the 2021–2027 programming period, becoming an integral part of all the various stages involved in the implementation of the ERDF Programme.
The European Commission has, in fact, stipulated that at least 30 per cent of the resources allocated to the Programme must be used to achieve the climate targets set by the Union, thereby setting out a clear path for the implementation of European funds. The ERDF Programme of the Autonomous Province of Trento goes well beyond this threshold, reaching almost 40 per cent of the total allocation, amounting to approximately 72 million euros.
Furthermore, the Programme is aligned with various provincial-level strategies on the environment and climate, such as the Provincial Strategy for Sustainable Development (SProSS). In particular, for each type of action under the ERDF Programme, its consistency with the objectives and strategies of the SProSS is highlighted.
At the same time, as early as the strategic planning phase, the Programme underwent the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) process. You can find all the information relating to this procedure at this link.
Furthermore, with the 2021–2027 programming period, two important new developments have been introduced in the environmental field.
The first change concerns the ‘Do No Significant Harm’ (DNSH) principle, i.e. the principle of not causing significant harm to the environment; all information regarding the application of this principle to the PAT’s 2021–2027 ERDF Programme is available via this link.
The second new development concerns the ‘Climate Proofing’ principle, which refers to making infrastructure projects climate-resilient. Further information is available via this link.
