Redesigning the Education Information System

The project enables the transition of the Education Information System to the new cloud architecture. This transition is the prerequisite for evolving the services and qualifying them according to the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)paradigm, which is the next goal for Education Information System services.

The project includes the following objectives

• definition of the new cloud architecture for the Education Information System, in particular with regard to the following components
  • dashboard of functionalities for the activities that are the responsibility of the secretariats of the educational institutions;
  • teacher's register;
  • dashboard for the school manager;
  • register for school-family communications;
  • school rankings;

• redesign of the main functionalities of the existing system for the purpose of migration to the new architecture and simultaneous implementation of improvement changes with a view to ensuring "user-centric" functionalities;

• development of new functionalities to support teaching activities, such as those required for the management of evening classes, for the digitalisation of assessment documents, for the management of school-to-work alternation, with a view to increasing the use of the various modules by educational institutions;

• adaptations of the modules relating to the management of school rankings in view of the collection of applications for the next three-year period 2024-2027.

Starting in January 2024, the project comprises three distinct phases

• January-December 2024 - design and implementation of the new cloud architecture for the Education Information System, with a milestone of 31 December 2024;

• January-December 2024 - redesign of the core functionalities of the system, implementation of evolutionary changes to existing functionalities and implementation of a first part of new functionalities;

• January-July 2025 - redesign of additional system functionalities, implementation of evolutionary changes to existing functionalities and realisation of a second part of new functionalities.

The project is co-financed 40% by the European Union - European Regional Development Fund, 42% by the Italian State - National Revolving Fund and the remaining 18% by the Autonomous Province of Trento (SINET plan).

The results achieved as at 31 July 2025 are as follows

• on 31 December 2024, the process of technological migration of the Education Information System to the cloud system was completed, in accordance with the project milestone, giving it greater scalability and security;

• the design document 'ISI - Architectural Design of the Software Platform' was drafted and delivered, detailing the technological and functional innovation project of the Education Information System;

• within the system, new functionalities were introduced in order to foster usability, improving education management and supporting schools, teachers, students and families. In particular, new functionalities were introduced in the following components
  • school secretarial dashboard;
  • teacher's register;
  • school manager's dashboard;
  • register for school-family communications;
  • school rankings (three-year period 2024-2027).
