Description
This is a station of exclusively botanical importance due to the presence of rare or uncommon floristic species in Trentino.
The local reserve is located just north of the path that descends from Bocca del Creer towards S. Giacomo, at the bottom of a basin consisting almost exclusively of pastureland, bordered to the south by Corna Piana and to the north-west by the slopes of Mount Altissimo. The wetland, with south-eastern exposure, is at an altitude of about 1540 m and has a surface area of about 7,000 square metres. In the area there was formerly a small lake mirror formed at the end of the last glaciation, which was progressively filled by a deposit of approximately 1.5 m of peat. At present the wetland lies within a grazed basin. The site is included in the S.I.C. IT3120173 Monte Baldo di Brentonico.
Quality and importance: this is a station of exclusively botanical importance due to the presence of rare or uncommon floristic species in Trentino.
Vulnerability: the current situation of grazing and trampling by livestock has slowed down the natural processes of vegetation evolution.
