Strong north-westerly winds began to blow in the mountains today. So far the most intense gust of 86 km/h was measured at around 1.10 p.m. on the Careser at 2600 metres, but gusts of just over 50 km/h were also measured on the Manghen and Tonale passes. It is possible that in the next few hours and especially in the coming night, when a warm front will pass, and in the morning of tomorrow, the winds will be locally very strong, especially on the ridges at high altitudes where gusts in excess of 80 - 100 km/h could locally occur. In the valleys at low altitudes the probability of strong winds will generally be low due to the stagnation of a "cushion" of cold air above which the warm air will flow, but, especially in the valleys at medium-high altitudes and oriented north-south and northwest-southeast, strong or very strong foehn gusts will be possible. Winds are expected to diminish from tomorrow afternoon.
