In 2021, 1,120,932 booking requests were processed by the APSS Single Booking Centre, to which 1,066,000 bookings for covid swabs and vaccinations should be added. Also in 2021, a total of 1939 notifications were collected by the APSS Public Relations Office. Of these, there were more thanks (1,040) than complaints (896).
These are some of the data presented yesterday afternoon to the Health Council and today to the press by the Councillor for Health, Social Policies, Disability and Family Stefania Segnana, the general director of APSS Antonio Ferro, the director of the Outpatient Specialist Operative Unit Andrea Fasanelli and the health director Giuliano Mariotti.
In the background the pandemic and the consequences it has brought, first and foremost the accumulation of waiting lists for outpatient specialist visits, which are slowly being addressed through, for example, the publication of calls for outpatient specialist doctors.
"The data tell us that there have been great improvements in the recovery of waiting lists for dermatological, endocrinological and pneumological specialist examinations. This is primarily thanks to the effort put in by the health company's professionals. Difficulties remain in some areas - in particular ophthalmology, cardiology, physiatrics, radiology - and the criticalities are mainly due to the lack of healthcare personnel, as is happening throughout the country. The responses we are implementing are manifold: looking for new personnel, even outside the provincial borders, through an attractiveness project. The new Faculty of Medicine is important, but the results will only be seen in the coming years. Last but not least, the great work we are doing is to maintain the personnel we have here in Trentino'.
"In order to overcome these critical issues," recalled medical director Antonio Ferro, "we have planned an internal reorganisation, asking the professionals to reduce certain types of activity in order to cope more with outpatient activities. On the other hand, we are working with family medicine and the specialists to ensure that the services provided are requested with appropriate priority and that patients are always taken care of by the specialists when they need follow-up".
