Fighting violence against women thanks to a great systemic work, uniting public and private institutions, local centres, municipalities and law enforcement agencies. This is the objective of the provincial administration, which, in synergy with all those involved, aims to reach all women in difficulty and urge them to denounce. This is what the data tell us, with reports on the rise, and they also tell us of the strong commitment of administrators, volunteers, health and social workers, and agents at the side of women who have suffered physical and psychological violence. To all of them came the thanks of the councillor for health, social policies, disability and family, Stefania Segnana today during the presentation of the initiatives put in place to prevent and combat violence against women. The councillor, in presenting this year's awareness-raising campaign, aimed instead at violent men to urge them to ask for help and to change, illustrated the many actions that the Province is carrying out. Beginning with an important project: 'We are working,' the councillor said, 'to increase the number of places in our shelter, where women in serious and complex situations find refuge: next year we will start with the call for tenders to find a new location. Among the initiatives, a strong impetus was also given to training activities with courses aimed at operators who take care of women victims, but also with the course conducted by Iprase, and aimed at teachers on witnessing violence, of which children are victims, as well as with courses for social workers, and finally with the one on financial education, which addressed the issue of economic violence.
Segnana then recalled the activity of the Committee on Gender Violence, set up in recent years with specific planning tasks, and finally illustrated some activities already planned for 2023, including 'the training course extended to librarians and journalists, to explain how to communicate information in the most correct way, avoiding sensationalist headlines but rather trying to protect victims of violence as much as possible'.
