The first keys of the Euregio Campus - Young Living in Education were handed over in Innsbruck today in the presence of Tyrolean Governor Anton Mattle, Mayor Georg Willi and Managing Director of the Innsbruck Real Estate Company (IIG) Franz Danler.
The high demand for affordable housing by students and trainees of the Tyrolean University of Applied Sciences led to the decision to renovate the Gründerzeit Schlachthofblock housing complex in the Dreiheiligen district. The work will be completed by 2026, while in the meantime a number of flats have been created, with part of a new building being constructed. As part of the further structural development of the Schlachthof block, a number of living spaces, including common rooms and educational environments for students and young people in training, from the Euregio Tirol-South Tyrol-Trentino will be created.
In fact, an agreement has been made with the Euregio for the occupation of shared flats, reserved for students and trainees. The rooms are intended primarily for young adults in university, vocational training or dual training, with at least five years' residence in a region of the Euregio, at a fixed price. The Euregio offices will be responsible for providing information via the website, notice boards, and events for young people, as well as for organising activities and workshops in the common room. There will also be an annual information trip of two or three days for around 30-40 potentially interested students.
