The critical situations affecting roads and streams in the upper Val di Sole due to the bad weather of the past 48 hours are coming to an end. The mayor of Ossana Laura Marinelli signed a revocation of the ordinance issued yesterday, 28 August, for the closure of some roads bordering the municipalities of Vermiglio and Peio and of the cycle-pedestrian path. The Cevedale campsite, which had been evacuated out of caution due to the swollen waters of the Vermigliana torrent, was also reopened and guests were able to safely re-enter the facility.
The flow rate of the Noce is still significant, but decreasing, and the weather forecast indicates a gradual improvement that should not lead to new critical situations in the coming hours.
The torrent's storage areas located upstream of the Ossana village have prevented more serious damage, as confirmed by the director of the Pat's mountain basin service, Lorenzo Malpaga: 'The mitigation works have stopped about 30 thousand cubic metres of material and will have to be emptied in the coming weeks. The management of the flood events was possible thanks to prevention, but unfortunately the current climatic situation, with the progressive melting of the permafrost of the glaciers, brings with it the risk of these events recurring frequently, so the invitation to the population is to always behave with the utmost caution".
