With a measure of the Provincial Council, approved today at the proposal of the Vice-President and Councillor for Education and Family Policies, the calendar for the 2024/2025 school year has been defined, valid for pre-schools, first- and second-cycle educational institutions and training institutions.
Provincial and parochial educational institutions of the first and second cycle will begin classes on Monday 9 September 2024 and end on Thursday 12 June 2025. As far as vocational training is concerned, the provincial and paritarian training institutions determine the time organisation of lessons, including suspensions of teaching activities, with the only constraint being the start date of lessons set for Monday 9 September 2024.
The vice-president's proposal also includes that of merging the Easter holidays and the 25 April long weekend to give families and teachers the opportunity to plan their holidays in the best possible way, being able to count on a full week instead of shorter periods spread across the calendar.
Preschools, both provincial and equivalent, will begin their teaching activities on Wednesday 4 September 2024. For the continuation of activities for the month of July, as the vice-president explained, the deadline has been set for Thursday, 31 July 2025, considering that the modalities for providing the service may be revised, taking into account the progress of the current school year, educational planning, and the request of families.
As stated in the resolution approved last December, in fact, for pre-schools the need was reaffirmed to carry out a further in-depth analysis, also following the trend of the current school year, on the organisational modalities of the services for the eleventh month in the summer term year 2025, also involving the social partners, with the aim of better planning the modalities of supply. Consequently, with a subsequent measure, the Provincial Council will be able to review the organisational methods and will be able to ask families enrolled for the next school year to confirm their enrolment and attendance of the eleventh month for the year 2025.
