Bears, safety and management: discussion between councillor Failoni and the administrators of Anaunia, Paganella and Rotaliana

Safety of people, management of large carnivores and monitoring of confident specimens. It was a frank discussion that touched on every aspect concerning the presence of bears in western Trentino, the one promoted in the afternoon in Denno with the local administrators of Val di Non, Paganella and Rotaliana by the provincial councillor for craftsmanship, commerce, tourism, forests, hunting and fishing with responsibility for large carnivores, Roberto Failoni, flanked by representatives of the Fauna and Forestry Services and Trentino Marketing. A discussion as part of the consultations on the territory that is touching on the various territories concerned, with the primary objective of providing certified information on the number of specimens (a hundred in 2023 excluding the young ones less than a year old) up to prevention measures such as the installation of anti-bite bins, which are being implemented (1.5 million euro for interventions to be carried out by the summer) and protection tools. "The anti-bite spray represents an important tool, the possession of which is banned in Italy and encouraged in other European countries affected by the presence of plantigrades," recalled councillor Failoni. "For this reason, for some time now our administration has been engaged in discussions with the national government with the aim of guaranteeing its use first and foremost to forest wardens, police forces, civil protection operators and forestry workers. In the future, its use must be completely free to guarantee the safety of all those who frequent our forests".

Councillor Spinelli: 'In 2023 the provincial economy continued its expansionary phase'

On the subject of economic trends, provincial councillor for economic development, labour, university, and research Achille Spinelli wishes to make some clarifications following the debate reported in the press. 'The growth of an economy,' the councillor emphasises, 'is measured by observing the dynamics of the volumes produced and thus considering GDP growth in real terms, net of inflationary dynamics. In the 2018-2023 period, GDP growth in Trentino was 6%, a value higher than the growth observed for Italy (4%) but also higher than that of the Northeast (4.7%) and in any case in line with that of Alto Adige (5.9%). Even looking at the data for the period 2019-2023, a higher growth intensity is observed for Trentino (4.4%) than for Italy (3.5%) and the North-East (4%) and growth in line with Alto Adige (4.3%). Evidently some people dislike a provincial government ready to push the generation of value in the economy, ready therefore to strengthen the very foundations of our autonomous system. I believe that the sustained growth of value generation in our province is positive news, especially if it proves to have solid foundations'.

HDE, public shareholders consider pre-emption of shares for sale

The public shareholders of the financial company that controls Dolomiti Energia, FIN.DE - the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Municipalities of Trento and Rovereto - are considering the advisability of exercising their right of pre-emption on the 40% of the subsidiary HDE (hydroelectric sector) owned by the Australian fund Macquaire. For this reason, the administrations, with President Maurizio Fugatti and Mayors Franco Ianeselli and Giulia Robol, are working on an ad hoc act of direction, in light of the strategic role that the Dolomiti Energia Group will be able to play in the future for the growth of the Trentino economy. The objective is to mandate FIN.DE, as their expression, to ask the board of directors of Dolomiti Energia Holding to carry out an assessment of the economic-financial sustainability (including through an independent analysis) of the operation. An operation that should not be aimed at permanently increasing the public presence in the Dolomiti Energia Group, but rather at the involvement of new partners - functional to the diversification of the business - or the expansion of the geographic scope of operations and, more generally, the growth of the Group. The other conditions that the public shareholders intend to set concern the financing methods, which shall not modify the ownership structure of the public shareholders, and the distribution of dividends, which shall be kept at an adequate level.
