The number 10 shirt is the most iconic in football, the quintessence of football as poetry and a way of telling the story of a unique sport. To 'Numeri 10', the title of the book published by Solferino and presented this morning in Piazza Duomo at the Festival dello Sport, Walter Veltroni has dedicated pages in which he wants to recover precisely the poetic dimension of football. Veltroni, interviewed by Gazzetta journalist Mimmo Cugini, immediately declared himself to be a man of the 20th century, emphasising how the number tens belong more to that season than to the current one where there are numbers 99, 112 and 46 and everything is personalised. Even this change speaks of the spirit of the times: the player chooses the number and the name on the shirt, whereas back then it was the role that made the number. In this apparently formal difference, for Veltroni there is the transformation of football into an industry that is, however, based on emotions and if you lose the emotion, the poetry, the identity, the imagination, the talent that marked the football of the legendary number 10s told through a series of interviews.
