Several municipalities in Trentino are currently hosting celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the local Alpine Group. This weekend's celebrations also include the party being held in Nago Torbole, where a fanfare was held this morning and a wreath was laid in honour of the fallen soldiers at the ancient cemetery and then at the Peace Monument.
'On these tombstones,' commented the President of the Province, Maurizio Fugatti, who was present together with Mayor Morandi and other authorities, 'are the names of the sons of this land and we remember the faraway places where they fought. It is the painful history of a border land like ours, where the spirit of solidarity was nevertheless cultivated and fortunately still survives today. For this we must be grateful to the Alpini, for their friendly presence, for their ability to extend a hand in times of need'.
