   Gregorio Paltrinieri, born to swim

   The first day of the seventh edition of the Trento Sports Festival ended with a sold-out Teatro Sociale for Gregorio Paltrinieri, Olympic bronze medallist in the 800 freestyle and Olympic silver medallist in the 1500 freestyle at the last Paris 2024 Games. But also and above all the first Italian to win three medals in as many Olympics. It was a special interview for him, based on his passion for reading, with a series of quotations taken from different books that nonetheless prompted profound reflections on the Italian athlete's career, maturity and growth. 'The Olympics are something completely different,' he explained, 'where you meet the strongest in every discipline. My first rival? The Chinese Sun Yang. Then Europe has grown a lot'.

   Bugno, Chiappucci and Indurain, great cycling around a table

   A dive into the cycling of the early 1990s, when Gianni Bugno and Claudio Chiappucci made Italian fans dream, but in the end it was Miguel Indurain who won. Thirty years after their challenges that inflamed the roads of the Giro and Tour, the Sports Festival brought together the three cycling champions who, after being rivals, met again as good friends around a table set on the stage of the Santa Chiara auditorium. Between wine tastings and anecdotes, the three champions retraced the highlights of their respective careers and challenges, particularly at the Tour de France, starting from their first meeting until their last race together.

   Roger De Vlaeminck, the history of cycling told in Trento

   The Belgian rider showed that he has lost neither his flair nor the flair of fantasy that accompanied him in his more than 240 career victories as a professional, and was able to convey to the public a hint of the romanticism that characterised cycling in the 1970s.
   De Vlaeminck, brushing up on his Italian, was able to converse with sincerity and sympathy, bringing out, together with Davide Cassani - cycling commentator and former national team coach - some of the behind-the-scenes stories of an era without helmets and without technology that allowed cycling to stage epic duels and nurture rivalries such as those between De Vlaeminck himself and Eddy Merckx or Francesco Moser

   European and World Champion Cesc Fabregas at the Sports Festival

   From the pitch to the bench, always keeping intact his desire to fight for his passion, to go far and make the impossible possible. Cesc Fabregas did not change his mentality when he became coach, at the end of a career as a footballer where he won everything. In the hall of the Philharmonic, the Como coach retraced the stages of his career that began in the youth sector of Barcelona, continued at Wenger's Arsenal, then back to Barcelona where he met Messi and with Guardiola on the bench won everything, then to Mourinho and Conte's Chelsea and finally Monaco, in France. It was here that he came up with the idea of quitting football and embarking on a career as a coach.

   Evaristo Beccalossi: imagination in football beyond the Nerazzurri passion

   Wearing Inter's No. 10 shirt, he has become one of the most beloved players ever. He is Evaristo Beccalossi, the protagonist this afternoon of the space dedicated to the 'Sports Books' at Palazzo Geremia. The 'Bec' as he was called from the stands of the San Siro presented his autobiography 'La mia vita da numero 10' (My life as number 10) published by Diarkos and written together with Eleonora Rossi, who was present at the meeting for the Sports Festival. The Inter fantasist, divided the book, with a preface by a well-known Biscione fan, singer-songwriter Enrico Ruggeri, into ten chapters in which he recounts his adventure in football amidst joys and disappointments at a time when football had a very different dimension to the contemporary one. Today Beccalossi is the Head of the National Under-20 team after having held the same position in the Under-19 team, and it is to young people that he wants to pass on his passion for a certain, true way of playing football and being a footballer.

   Four swords and a foil

   The opportunity to relive moments of great sport was offered by 'Four Swords and a Foil', an appointment, moderated by Francesco Ceniti, that took place in the afternoon at the Regional Palace as part of the Sports Festival. The presence of the women's epee team, gold in Paris 2024, the first Olympic gold medal in the discipline won by beating France at home, with Rossella Fiamingo, Mara Navarria, Giulia Rizzi and, in connection from Sicily, Alberta Santuccio, and of Filippo Macchi, Olympic silver medal in individual and team foil in Paris 2024, brought the audience back to exciting moments for fencing fans.

    The golden boys of Paralympic swimming, the national team that changes the world

    At the Festival dello Sport in Trento, Claudio Arrigoni, journalist for the Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke with Luca Pancalli, president of the CIP, and Paralympic athletes Simone Barlaam, Carlotta Gilli, Giulia Ghiretti, Stefano Raimondi and Giulia Terzi, gold medallists in swimming in Paris 2024. Kids born to win. All simple? Absolutely not, there is endless work behind these victories. You have to believe in it and try. The Paralympic world has changed dramatically, especially in recent years, a sign of an important process that sees the athletes themselves aware that they are helping a country to change, especially from a cultural point of view, opening up new spaces of understanding, to bear witness to the message that everyone must be born to win as long as they are put in a position to try.
