    Special Protection Area (SPA)

    A vast mountainous area in the central Alps furrowed, in the Province of Trento, by three alpine valleys of glacial origin on the southern slope of the Ortles-Cevedale group.
    The head of the valleys is bordered by a circle of peaks reaching up to 3,000 m and the environments are characterised by alternating glacial cirques with alpine lakes and small peat bogs. There are vast glaciers and impressive moraine deposits.
    The vegetation is represented by coniferous larch and spruce forests, interrupted by vast pasture clearings of secondary origin, which are followed at high altitudes by subalpine heaths and alpine pastures.

    A riparian wood of willow and alders along the Torrente Fersina, not far from the Slacche locality, municipality of Pergine Valsugana.

    It is located not far from the Molino Dorigoni Local Reserve and is one of the protected areas that make up the Fiume Brenta Reserve Network.

    The site is located on the hydrographic right of the Adige River, just north of Trento, and is characterised by a few small ponds of recent origin (gravel quarry), the slope with arid scrubland and, above, the inaccessible overhanging wall. The substratum is totally calcareous.

    The local reserve is included in the much larger Natura 2000 area ZSC Adamello and lies within the boundaries of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park.

    The biotope consists of the rocky walls of Monte Sorasass that overhang the Valle dell'Adige and the slopes of detritus colonised by vegetation, which constitute a very important oasis for a very high number of species.

    The biotope is part of the Special Area of Conservation Stagni della Vela - Soprasasso and is one of the protected areas that make up the Bondone Reserve Network.

    Cariceto with sphagnum in the pastures of Malga Castrin, on the border with Val d'Ultimo (BZ), in the municipality of Borgo d'Anaunia (Val di Non).

    The local reserve is located in the immediate vicinity of the Natura 2000 SAC area (and unestablished biotope) Torbiere di Monte Sous.

    The fate of Bellamonte

    The biotope is located at the height of km 110 of the S.S. No. 50 of the 'Grappa and Rolle' road in the hamlet of Bellamonte, situated on the 'Dossi' on the orographic right of the Travignolo torrent.
    On ignimbritic rocks and on morainic material, there are ample wet and peaty areas that have formed over time, giving the entire valley considerable importance from a naturalistic point of view.
    There are numerous biotopes of local interest alongside those of provincial interest ("Palù dei Mugheri" and "Sorte di Bellamonte").
    The most valuable feature of this biotope consists in the presence of a large local 'high' peat bog reserve, i.e. 'a plant world in its own right', autonomous and fed only by rainwater, consisting of a thick layer of sphagnum mosses that have slowly accumulated over the centuries.

    Its protection is motivated not only by the extraordinary water flow and water quality, but also by the presence of an environmental context with valuable natural characteristics.

    The Reserve is also a Special Area of Conservation and is one of the protected areas that make up the Brenta River Reserve Network.
