Trentino for all

In implementation of the Decree of the Minister of Disabilities, in agreement with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Labour and Social Policies and Tourism of 28.09.2021, a Notice was published on the Government's portal for the funding of Projects aimed at fostering Accessible and Inclusive Tourism for people with disabilities.

The Autonomous Province of Trento approved the project proposal "Trentino per Tutti". The aim of the project is to promote an inclusive culture in tourism development by making the entire provincial territory accessible to everyone, regardless of physical, cognitive or sensory abilities.

The project envisages the involvement of the Province with the Tourism and Sport Service, the UMSE Disability and Social Integration Unit and the Agency for Social Cohesion, together with the Trentino School of Management (TSM), the Franco Demarchi Foundation, Trentino Marketing and a number of APTs.

The activities covered by the ministerial contribution are aimed at

• create a competition of ideas aimed at the presentation of three proposals, implemented in three territorial areas, aimed at the creation of tourism products or services for the use of the territory by people with disabilities
• re-launch the OPEN brand: a certification certification for operators in the tourism sector committed to ensuring inclusiveness and a high level of accessibility and usability to all subjects, from children to the elderly, from people with disabilities to families. The label includes the training of certification professionals, who will be accredited to act as verifiers for the assignment and maintenance of the OPEN label;
• create a path to sensitise the tourism system on accessibility, inclusion and hospitality issues involving APT, tour operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs, trade associations, disability associations, press and media
• directly involve people with disabilities in the activities of the project itself through the tools provided for the employment of disadvantaged people.

All this is to ensure that Trentino is recognised as a welcoming place for all people who permanently or temporarily have physical or sensory difficulties or need special mobility aids.

• Development of accessible and inclusive tourism aimed at facilitating the presence of tourists with disabilities and their families;
• creation of accessible infrastructure and organisation of services
• accessible and inclusive tourism offer, also through work placements for people with disabilities.

The project is financed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Office for policies in favour of people with disabilities and includes a 10% co-participation by the Autonomous Province of Trento.

70% of the funding granted is disbursed upon notification of the start of activities and the remaining 30% upon closure of the Project.

120,000.00 Euro are co-participated by PAT.

The ideas competition for the realisation of conceptual proposals for tourist products and services for disabled persons led to theapproval of a final merit list.

The three winning ideas were implemented by the APT Paganella and Val di Fiemme with regard to physical disabilities and by Val di Sole with regard to sensory disabilities.

Following the successful completion of a training course organised by TSM, the Agency for Social Cohesion arranged for theaccreditation of the Open Mark Verifiers and the registration of 18 names in the Register, according to art. 16 L.P. 1/2011.
Operators in the tourism sector will be able to contact the aforementioned verifiers to verify the requirements and obtain the mark, as illustrated in the guidelines.
