General information
The Dynamic Street Lights project aims to revolutionise street lighting by turning every lamppost into a real intelligent hub.
The main objective is the development of a device capable of overcoming the limits of metallic materials through the pioneering use of thermally conductive polymers. In parallel, the project aims to introduce dynamic photometry, a system that allows the shape and intensity of the light beam to be electronically and remotely reconfigured to suit the actual road surface conditions.
The innovative character lies in the ability to drive each LED independently via duty cycle modulation, shaping the light in real time without mechanical intervention. The device is native 'loT-ready'.
In addition, a mobile laboratory capable of detecting road luminance at high speeds (50-90 km/h} was developed, exceeding the limits of standard systems.
Areas of application include road tunnels, urban and suburban motorways, but also industrial environments and sports facilities.
The benefits are manifold:
- drastic energy savings (lighting only where necessary),
- reduced maintenance costs and increased active safety.
- Production also has a lower environmental impact, as plastic moulding requires much less energy than aluminium casting.
The implementation of the results will take place through the mass production of the equipment and the provision of advanced metrology and automatic calibration services through the mobile laboratory.
