EUVECA

European Platform for Vocational Excellence in Health Care

Supporting innovation and development in the health care sector by ensuring future-oriented competences.

General information

The project is co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme, under Key Action 2 - Partnership for Excellence, and is part of the promotion of excellence in vocational training. The initiative aims to strengthen competences in the health sector, responding to the emerging needs of a changing health care system.

It is intended to demonstrate that, with a strategic and coordinated focus on vocational training within regional health ecosystems, it is possible to contribute significantly to the advancement ofinnovation and sustainability of the health system, both at European and local level.

In fact, EUVECA was created to respond to six major challenges - the so-called 'mega trends' - that put pressure on the sustainability of the European health sector

  • theageing of the population
  • the growing incidence of chronic diseases and co-morbidities;
  • the digital revolution and the spread of information technology;
  • personalised medicine;
  • the changing behaviour of citizens as health 'consumers';
  • the climate crisis.

In order to address these challenges, the project envisages the creation of seven regional hubs of excellence, spaces of cooperation between training organisations, public institutions, research centres and health professionals. In parallel, a distance learning (FAD) platform will be developed with digital and accessible educational content for health professionals and students.

Goals

  • Promoting excellence in health professional education through the creation of an accessible and high-quality FAD platform.
  • Todevelop future-oriented skills to address emerging challenges in the health sector, such as the ageing population and the adoption of new technologies.
  • Foster cooperation between European partners to share good practices and training resources.
  • Building regional hubs of excellence that integrate training, research and innovation in the health sector.

Milestones

The main project phases are:

  • Training needs analysis: identification of skills required in the health sector and existing gaps in training.
  • Development of the Edu4Health FAD platform: creation of a digital environment for distance learning, with accessible and interactive content for health professionals, teachers and students.
  • Creation of training materials: development of courses and educational resources in line with the needs of the health sector.
  • Implementation of regional hubs: establishment of centres of excellence promoting collaboration between training, research and clinical practice.
  • Evaluation and dissemination: Monitoring of project results and sharing of good practices at European level.

Monitoring

  • Baseline report (April 2023): a mapping of the current state of health and social care training in the partner regions, analysing training needs and reviewing relevant European policies, in order to have a useful information base for the design of future Regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) and the broader European platform.
  • Edu4Health PlatformThis is the digital CoVE of the project, developed to offer health professionals, teachers and students easy and free access to training courses of excellence throughout Europe. Thanks to this tool, Trentino collaborates with European partners to share innovative knowledge and promote international exchange opportunities and placements. The platform will remain operational as a permanent resource of the territory even after the end of the project, guaranteeing constant updating to build a more modern, digital and citizen-friendly healthcare system.
