General information
The DIGIWAY project aims to increase Alpine safety and improve the mountain experience in the Euregio (Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino).
In particular, the focus of the DIGIWAY project is on data from the hiking network, the accuracy of which is of crucial importance both for the safety of hikers and for the bodies responsible for its management and maintenance.
DIGIWAY will also draw on the experience and know-how of NOI TechPark in Bolzano, the innovation district of South Tyrol, which is the project's Technology Partner. NOI Techpark will provide DIGIWAY with theOpen Data Hub, a digital platform that is already operational and will be prepared and implemented to host the DIGIWAY-product.
Goals
The main objective of the project is the creation of the so-called DIGIWAY-Product, i.e. a unified, reliable and high-quality geospatial dataset consisting of the data that are already published in the three Euregio territories.
By dynamically integrating data from different systems, the project addresses the growing need for accurate and homogeneous data, which form the basis for reliable digital tourism planning tools across regional and national borders.
Case studies, such as the E5 long-distance hiking route and the Val di Fassa, will serve as test areas for developing and refining innovative approaches.
In addition to this, the DIGIWAY-Product will be offered interactively via ArcGIS Online and will also be accessible via the existing Open Data Hub platform of NOI Techpark.
With the DIGIWAY-Product, it is therefore intended to meet the needs of:
- Accessibility and gratu itousness: offering data free of charge from a single access point (the Open Data Hub).
- Security and reliability: using only data from reliable sources.
- Consistency and harmonisation: using data harmonised to a common Euregio-wide standard, previously decided by the project partners.
