Establishment of the Elderly Welfare Subcommittee
By resolution no. 2186 of the Provincial Council dated 23 December 2024, on the recommendation of the Social Planning Committee, the Elderly Welfare Subcommittee was established, charged with analysing the needs and the supply of services and proposing new lines of action to encourage the elderly to remain at home, to support families and caregivers, and to promote integrated territorial interventions. A path of planning and in-depth analysis in the field of elderly welfare was therefore launched with the aim of improving and redefining the socio-welfare services supporting the elderly at home.
Outcomes of the Elderly Welfare Subcommittee
The outcomes of the process were collected in the document "Guidelines for a system to support home care for the elderly and their families in the Province of Trento"approved by Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 1369 of 12 September 2025. Following the conclusion of the first phase of the Subcommittee's pathway, a second phase dedicated to territorial application will open: the Valley Communities and the Val d'Adige Territory, within Spazio Argento, will use the Guidelines to plan and implement interventions to support the home care of the elderly and their families.
Tasks and mandate of the Elderly Welfare Subcommittee
The Subcommittee's mandate is to
- to deepen the framework of needs and service provision, also through the involvement of recipients
- to define possible lines of intervention and innovation to be sustained in the provincial territory, functional to the definition of territorial processes of entrusting the services pertaining to the area
- set up and consequently initiate a planning and in-depth analysis process at a provincial level for the overall review of the model of support for the elderly in their own homes and for the strengthening of the Silver Space functions.
