Cariceto not far from Lago delle Malghette, above Campo Carlo Magno, municipality of Pinzolo.

The local reserve is included in the wider area of Natura 2000 Torbiere Alta Val Rendena, to which reference should be made for more in-depth naturalistic information, and in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park territory.

Alta Val Rendena peat bogs

Special Area of Conservation (SAC)

A vast area of peat bog woodlands on the slopes of the Presanella group, partly sloping, partly flat and partly wooded hummocks, with widespread natural clearings in the spruce forest.
The vegetation consists of a complex of numerous turfic associations, which are rare on the entire southern slope of the Alps.
There are also some patches of spruce forest on peat (wooded peat bog).
Among other things, there are low fens with a predominance of Gramineae and Cyperaceae and with areas of sphagnum peat bogs, and numerous occurrences of genuine raised bogs with high substrate acidity indices.
In the southernmost parts, extensive mugoak, both slope and peat bog, can be seen.

Adamello Brenta Nature Park

The Adamello Brenta Nature Park is the largest protected area in Trentino.
Established in 1967, it extends into western Trentino and includes the Adamello and Brenta mountain groups.
The park offers visitors many visitor centres and themed trails to explore nature themes. It is very active in the field of research and education.

It is one of the national excellences for geology, recognised as a Geopark by Unesco.
