Responsibilities and functions
The protected territory encompasses the entire Brenta Group, a mountain chain formed mainly of dolomitic rocks that constitutes one of the 9 systems of the Unesco Dolomitesand a considerable part of the Adamello-Presanella granite massifs, which still preserve glaciers of considerable extension.
The considerable extension of the protected territory (618.6 square kilometres), the high altitudinal range, the dual geology of the mountain complexes and the high state of environmental integrity allow the area to host an extraordinary variety of environments and species of flora and fauna.
The park offers visitors many visitor centres and thematic routes to explore nature themes. It is very active in the field of research and education.

made by Ivo Pecile and Marco Virgilio for the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation.
The Park was established in 1967 and expanded in 1987. It has three main aims: to protect natural and environmental features, promote scientific study and the social use of environmental assets.
In 2006 the Park - among the first in Italy - was awarded the European Sustainable Tourism Charterthanks to its commitment to promoting sustainable and lasting tourism, discovering and inventing new ways of using its territory, respecting its fragility and the quality of the visiting experience.
Since 2008, the Park has also joined the UNESCO Network of Geoparks, testifying to the richness and extraordinariness of its geological heritage.
Walter Ferrazza is the President of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park from 4 February 2021. In 2023 Ferrazza was also elected to the Board of Directors of Federparchi.
