Description
Portion of a eutrophic lake with a complete vegetation zonation of all its components, from the lake waters to the shores. Of particular interest are the 'lamineto' and the patch of marshy alder woodland, which has now disappeared almost everywhere due to land reclamation and clearing.
The site is also of great importance for the nesting, stopping and/or wintering of bird species that are protected or in strong decline, and/or have a localised distribution in the Alps. Presence of Annex II invertebrate species that indicate the existence of broadleaf nuclei in good natural condition. Presence of Annex II invertebrate species indicating good natural conditions in running waters.
Habitats of special interest not included in Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC are present, in particular: Alnetea glutinosae (10%), Phragmition (reeds) (10%).
