Description
An extremely valuable nature reserve along the Sarca river. Many species of birds and animals nest in these white alder woods.
At one time, the Sarca river passed much closer to the Caderzone settlement and was surrounded by woods. These ancient woods were dynamically connected to the river and, periodically flooded due to floods, continued to revive. It was only after the dreadful floods of 1882 and 1906 that the Sarca riverbed was moved to its current position.
Today, groundwater continues to flow along the old riverbed, creating the current wet environment of the Ontaneta di Caderzone.
