Offering assistance and support to the thousands of faithful who are reaching St. Peter's Basilica to pay homage to Pope Francis these days: a task entrusted to the Civil Protection System, which involves 700 volunteer operators from the various Italian regions. Among them, also a large delegation from Trentino, which arrived in Rome this afternoon in view of the funeral that will be celebrated on Saturday morning. The contingent is made up of 42 volunteers and one official from the Risk Prevention Service: a team that is an expression of the civic sense that has always characterised Trentino in major national mobilisations. It includes 18 operators from the Alpine Volunteer Units of the Ana Civil Defence, 11 volunteer firefighters, 5 operators from the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service, 5 colleagues from the Italian Red Cross and 3 Psychologists for Peoples. Housed in the camp set up in Centocelle, the Trentino operators will be working in the area of Piazza Cavour - not far from Castel Sant'Angelo - and the Bernini colonnade, i.e. the areas of the city most affected by the massive influx of pilgrims.
