"Leaving for Vienna for a series of initiatives linked to the figure of Alcide De Gasperi on the 50th anniversary of the Second Statute of Autonomy, I would like to start with a thought addressed to the great statesman to remember this day dedicated to the Liberation. Remembering with him all those who dedicated their lives, sometimes sacrificing it, for freedom'. This was stated by the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento on the occasion of 25 April, 'an anniversary - the president recalls - that we all have a duty to keep alive, especially in such difficult times for the freedom of people and peoples. So many men and women fought back then, and so many others have continued to fight to defend this freedom. Some of them became a point of reference, just like De Gasperi after whom, not by chance, the international prize for the "builders of Europe" that Trentino, after the hardest period of the pandemic, is once again named. Or like his daughter, Maria Romana, who left us recently. But beyond the individual names and even the dates, we all know that it is up to each one of us to commit ourselves every day, starting with small gestures, to safeguarding this precious asset and protecting it from abuse and imbalance'.
