    Dialogue with Carlo Bonomi

TRENTO ECONOMY FESTIVAL - A competitive reformism. This is the recipe, at the conclusion of the Trento Festival of Economics 17th edition, from the number one of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi. Who admitted on the international geo-economic situation: 'We must be realistic: we do not have raw materials. The sanctions against Russia are not having much effect. It is significant that in the six packages of sanctions against Russia, gas has not yet been touched'. And then: 'European integration was born and grew in industry and in these months we see how industry is an issue of national security'.

Digital and green, this is what European companies will look like

TRENTO ECONOMY FESTIVAL - Towards a more sustainable, inclusive, intelligent and technological model of economic development: the Fondazione Hub Innovazione Trentino (HIT), an instrumental body of the Autonomous Province of Trento that deals with enhancing the results of Trentino research, took part in the 17th edition of the Festival with an event at the Fondazione Caritro Conference Room. The meeting, entitled "Enterprises and Territories in the European Union: Digitisation and Green Transition", scheduled as part of the "Economies of the Territories" programme, was attended by Anna Ascani, undersecretary of the Ministry for Economic Development, Roberto Viola, director general of DG CNECT (Directorate General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies) at the European Commission, and Achille Spinelli, councillor for economic development, research and employment of the Autonomous Province of Trento. The meeting was moderated by Il Sole 24 Ore journalist Luca De Biase.
In the audience, for the HIT Foundation, President Ivonne Forno, Operations Director Andrea Sartori and Head of European Affairs Fabrizio Gentili were present.
Councillor Spinelli, when asked about the Pnrr, explained that "in Trentino we are trying to be consistent with our development plan; we are working on the integration of digital systems, inspired by simplicity and transversality, trying to create added value for the economic system, while also allowing the technological processes of companies to be overhauled with appropriate services and incentives". And, on the subject of the digital and green transition in small territories like ours, he said that "an OECD study has identified Trentino as the ideal destination for thirty-year-old Europeans in the coming years: in terms of quality of training and lifestyle, which knows how to combine the demands of the world of work with those of personal and family life, a fact that confirms a new centrality of the territories after the pandemic".

The ranking of cities according to quality of life by generation

TRENTO ECONOMY FESTIVAL - The new Sole 24 Ore ranking based on quality of life rewards the provinces with the best living environment by age group. At the top of the generational ranking are Aosta (children) Piacenza (young people) and Cagliari (seniors). Trento ranks well among the medium-small cities and stands out for good practices. A preview of what will be published in the paper edition of Monday 6 June was presented today in the Muse lobby by Sole24 Ore journalists Michela Finizio and Marta Casadei. These three indices document the ability of institutions to provide efficient services, the relative living conditions, the shortcomings of the most fragile and the expectations of the youngest, and offer institutions the opportunity to take action to improve. The data were commented on by Mariangela Franch, University of Trento, and demographer Alessandro Rosina.

Imagining cities of the future as key drivers of change

The city is increasingly at the centre of an important debate even after the end of the pandemic emergency. Covid 19 has certainly changed our perception of city spaces (houses, offices, shops) but there has not been that flight from urban centres to villages and towns that many had assumed. The city therefore remains neuralgic for thinking about the future of our country, even taking into account the various criticalities, including the one linked to the drastic drop in births in Italy. This was the starting point of the meeting "City of the future and sustainable mobility" proposed today in the Aula Kessler of the Faculty of Sociology for the Festival of Economics.

Libya and Iran, between oil gas and political instability

TRENTO ECONOMY FESTIVAL - Internal feuds, struggles between factions, warring tribes, an intertwining of economic and political interests at an international level is heavily affecting (and not as of today) the extraction of oil and gas in Libya and Iran and consequently the supplies of western countries. And as if that were not enough, the element of Russia (after the outbreak of war with Ukraine) is further disrupting a panorama that is constantly evolving and difficult to interpret even by geopolitical experts. A geographical area, the one between the Mediterranean and the Middle East, made even more unstable also due to the interventions (or lack of interventions) of Western countries, Italy first of all "which should have accompanied Libya also supporting it militarily".
