"We learn of the decision of the Council of Ministers dictated by the need to align with the demands of the European Commission with respect to the objectives of the PNRR, even in the appreciation by some Ministries of the objectives of the provincial regulation. For us, the commitment to valorising the water resource with respect to the economic and environmental return on the provincial territory remains". This is how the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, and Vice-President Mario Tonina commented on the news of the Council of Ministers' objection to the provincial law on hydroelectric concessions.
"A regulation conceived in a moment of serious emergency,' the provincial government representatives recall, 'which precisely because of these circumstances responded to the urgency of intervening in a sector that we know is very complex and delicate. This is why the government's decision to set up a Joint Table to analyse a number of issues related to hydroelectric production, also assessing the expiry date of concessions operating in Trentino in relation to the mobile term contained in Article 13 of the Statute of Autonomy, is to be welcomed."
