On the proposal of Health Councillor Stefania Segnana, the Provincial Council has approved the protocol of understanding with the University of Verona for the activation of a scientific and didactic collaboration aimed at favouring, through the reservation of additional places in the Specialisation Schools, the specialised training of medical graduates resident in the province of Trento. The new protocol, follows the one signed in 2016.
"The collaboration with the University of Verona," emphasises Councillor Segnana, "dates back to the 1990s and has allowed numerous Trentino doctors to train at our accredited health facilities and benefit from the specialist training contract financed by the Province. The protocol approved today marks the continuation of this collaboration and, at the same time, takes into account the Framework Agreement between the Province, APSS, the University of Trento and the University of Verona, with which the inter-university School of Medicine and Surgery based in Trento was set up, and the opportunity to start up medical specialisation schools at the University of Trento in the future was shared between the parties. In fact, it was agreed to review the Protocol, should the specialised training of doctors progressively come under the planning and management of the University of Trento, through the establishment of Medical Specialisation Schools'.
