Authorisation for the transformation of the employment relationship to part-time for workers accruing an old-age pension by 2018

Description

Employees in the private sector who are currently employed on a full-time, open-ended basis, who by 31 December 2018 meet the age requirement for entitlement to an old-age pension, and who have accrued the minimum contribution requirements for entitlement to the aforesaid pension, may, in agreement with their employer, transform their employment relationship from full-time to part-time with a reduction in working hours of between 40 and 60 per cent, with payment by the employer of a sum equal to the social security contribution for pension purposes payable by the employer in respect of the work not performed and with recognition of the notional contribution commensurate with the remuneration corresponding to the work not performed by reason of the part-time employment contract entered into.

The employer and the employee, subject to INPS certification of the employee's fulfilment of the minimum contribution requirements and the accrual by 31/12/2018 of the age requirement for the old age pension, who enter into a part-time employment contract valid until the date of accrual of the right to the old age pension, shall be entitled to a part-time pension.

What to do

The employer sends the subsidised part-time employment contract to the Employment Service. Upon receipt of the subsidised part-time work contract, the Employment Service examines the contractual provisions and, within 5 days of receipt of the contract, issues the authorisation to access the benefit. Once the aforementioned deadline has expired in vain, the authorisation measure is deemed to have been issued.
