The emergency room is the population's main point of reference for urgent and unscheduled healthcare needs. Overcrowding is a priority problem as it negatively affects the quality of healthcare provision. Today the Council, at the proposal of Health Councillor Mario Tonina, approved the Overcrowding Management Plan (PGS) that will be applied to the Provincial Hospital Service (SOP) network.
"The data show," emphasises councillor Tonina, "that the massive influx to the emergency room puts both patient safety and the quality of care at risk. This also impacts on the wellbeing of health workers, who play a crucial role in our community. It is a serious problem that requires a strategic and targeted approach. Today we have approved an operational plan that aims to ensure more efficient management of patient flow in emergency rooms. We are aware that this will require joint and coordinated efforts. It is essential to improve communication between the different parts of the healthcare system and to optimise the use of technology for faster management of patient information. In this way, we can ensure that every patient receives the necessary treatment in the shortest possible time. In addition, we must work to raise awareness of the importance of responsible access to the emergency room."
