A very uncertain and balanced edition of the Tour of the Alps found its worthy conclusion today in Levico Terme, Trentino. For the second time in the history of the race organised by GS Alto Garda, it is a Spaniard who stands on the top step of the podium.
A Basque, Mikel Landa, had broken the ice in 2016 in the then Giro del Trentino. Eight years later, an Andalusian, Juan Pedro Lopez, won the first stage race of his career at the Tour of the Alps. He who just two days ago in Schwaz had raised his arms to the sky for the first time in a professional race, winning that Maglia Verde Melinda, which he fought with all his might never to leave.
The presidents of the three territories of the Euregio Tyrol - South Tyrol - Trentino expressed their satisfaction with the success of the event, because the Tour of the Alps is not only a very important international sports competition, heir to the historic Giro del Trentino, but it is an event charged with symbolic meaning: the unity, across borders, of the three territories of the Euregio, which share the nature, history and culture of the Alpine space. A great race, which gave many outstanding athletes, also from Trentino, the opportunity to put themselves to the test.
