The vice-president and councillor for education intervened in relation to what appeared in the local press regarding the closure of the unauthorised territorial branch of Laba Brescia - the Free Academy of Fine Arts with its Trentino headquarters in Rovereto - expressing understanding for the discomfort of the students and families who, in choosing their training pathway, had opted for the same academy, and emphasising how a public administrator must as far as it is within its competences and possibilities, also guarantee the correctness and legitimacy of the educational offerings in the province, first and foremost the validity of the formal qualifications issued, so that families are not faced with nasty surprises.
On this specific point, since it is clearly not possible to intervene on the requirements demanded by law for accreditation and on which the Ministry is called upon to express an opinion, the commitment has focused precisely on guaranteeing the validity of the qualifications issued and safeguarding the validity of the training credits and examinations taken by students. And it was only a few days ago that the vice-president, the structures of the provincial department and the Ministry discussed the matter, the outcome of which bodes well for the confirmation of the validity of the credits and qualifications obtained to date, although it reiterates that the conditions do not currently exist for keeping the location active.
The vice-president did not go into the merits of the professionalism and competence of the teachers at the Rovereto site, nor of the quality of the courses offered, but she firmly emphasised the guarantee of protection for the students and their families, for which she is working in the appropriate fora.
The hope, both for the youngsters and for the Trentino territory, is that Laba Brescia will take action as soon as possible to acquire, in compliance with the regulations in force, the authorisations required for the regular conduct of training activities.
