Prodi at full throttle between demographic winter, young people and taxation

'I am too old to feel I am in an upside-down world'. So began Professor Romano Prodi, referring to the title of the meeting at the Teatro Sociale in front of people of all ages, but with a large presence of young people. 'I was part of a very lucky generation,' explained the professor, 'because I lived through adolescence after the war and was convinced that Milan would become like New York. But in recent times the enthusiasm has been lost'. The digital world between Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Digital technology can be Dr Jekyll if it is used correctly, but also Mr Hyde if the purposes are illicit. And in the journey towards an increasingly digitised, populated and 'problem-rich' future, looking in particular at conflicts, technology can make things better or worse. This was said by Roberto Viola, Director General for Digital Policies of the European Commission (DG Connect) at the talk 'Shaping Europe's Digital Future', held in the Piazza del Duomo at the EU cloud. The EU is moving on two tracks: on the one hand by incentivising the correct use of technology, and on the other by opposing those who want to use it against the community.

"The indebtedness of the Chinese economy is 140% of GDP and the figure of 5% growth is a mockery: multinationals in China are not doing well, they are not growing - were the figures provided by Alberto Forchielli, founding partner of Mindful Capital Partners and expert on the Asian market - But it has 60% of the world's production capacity, a dominant position on consumer goods, on industrial goods. Growth will adjust to 2/3% also because of the demographic decline, but that does not mean that it will not create problems for us with an increasingly aggressive policy'.

Nobel Prize winner James Hackerman: 'To ensure social mobility we must invest in families'

It is the family, the real answer to social growth, in the West as everywhere. James Hackerman, Nobel Prize winner for economics in 2010, who presented his research conducted on societies in Denmark and the USA, has no doubts: "Our governments, in order to enable social mobility and the success of the new generations, must invest in families and everything related to them. My research has made it clear how, even in two societies that are so different in terms of welfare, factors such as the choice of neighbourhood to live in and exposure to the family 'good example', rather than education (a central theme in America today), affect outcomes".

Vice-President receives Minister for Family and Equal Opportunities

The visits of national government ministers to Trento continue. This morning, the Vice-President of the Province and Councillor for Education, Culture and Sport, Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities Policies received the Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities in the Provincial Government building. Accompanied by Trento's Chief Prosecutor Sandro Raimondi and Deputy Vice-Prefect Massimo Di Donato, the Vice-President spent time in the rooms for a brief talk with the minister. The latter then answered journalists' questions before taking part in the panel included in the Festival of Economics focusing on demography and birth rate.

Jake La Furia: the beat of my rap against music created for algorithms

"Rap for me is linked to the land where the people who do it come from. I have always lived in Milan and so both as a solo artist and with Club Dogo I have told the story of my city. In my opinion today Milan has deteriorated, it's a grey city of the world and not of the person, and its rap is therefore darker and cruder. That's why my rap has more east coast connotations, I don't make music full of happiness as if I were born in the Canary Islands'. Thus Jake La Furia, one of the stars of tricolour rap, protagonist of the encounter between words and music "Nato per questo!" (Born for this!) proposed on the second evening of the Festival of Economics at the Teatro Sociale. Interviewing the singer, who has written important pages for the hip hop scene with Club Dogo, was Radio 24 journalist and presenter Marta Cagnola.
