In the afternoon, the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti received the Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Trieste, Gregor Šuc. The focus of the meeting was the institutional cooperation between the two countries, which share the presence of large carnivores in their respective territories. "This visit represents an opportunity to strengthen the ties between Trentino and Slovenia and consolidate cooperation in various sectors," explained President Fugatti at the end of the meeting, which focused among other things on the protection of linguistic minorities.
Gregor Šuc has been in office since autumn 2022 and was accompanied on this visit by Consul Peter Golob. A graduate in diplomatic sciences from the University of Ljubljana, Šuc has worked in Washington and in the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as deputy head of mission at the Slovenian Embassy in Rome and headed the economic office for the promotion of Slovenia in Milan.
